A translation competition for secondary school students in Ireland was held in early 2015. Students were asked to translate a poem from a language of their choice (French, German, Italian, Irish or Spanish) and a winner was selected for each language. Translations were assessed on their individuality and creativity as well as their use of language. The poetry selected for translation was poetry published in the nineteenth century in Ireland.
